I have been an early adopter of the KNIME analytics platform and I am still quite satisfied with its ease of use and stability. The side feature of being open source is also quite appealing, not only because of the price, but also because of the lively community available for help and extensions. Nevertheless, I was skeptical about an open source tool being recognized as a leader.
This, in my opinion, shows that the game is changing, that is, that an open source solution can compete with the better equipped and bigger guys in the schoolyard just because of the strategy and the community behind it.
This is a good news for those of us who have chosen KNIME as their primary analytics tool: KNIME is visionary and powerful enough to stay. It has been a good choice.
And this is a good news for all the data analytics consultants, because they can rely on an open-source, reliable, fast, and easy-to-use solution at any time in the future.
